Conta circa 4.000 membri, organizzati in 42 giurisdizioni in 37 paesi e presenti in tutti e cinque i continenti.
INVESTITURES AT THE GRAND PRIORY OF SPAIN
On October 24, 2026, the Basilica of San Isidoro in León served as the setting for the investiture of new Knights and Dames of the Grand Priory of Spain of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the Bishop of León, Luis Ángel de las Heras Berzal, and the Abbot of the Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidoro, Luis García Gutiérrez, as well as civil, ecclesiastical, and military authorities and representatives from various institutions in León.
Joining the Knights and Dames of the Grand Priory of Spain were members of the Order from the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Slovakia, and Venezuela, lending the event a distinctly international character.
The choice of León for this celebration reflects the city’s unique historical and spiritual significance—as the former capital of the Kingdom of León—and its deep connection to the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James) and the centuries-old tradition of hospitality and welcoming pilgrims; values that are closely aligned with the founding mission of the Order of Saint Lazarus.
Today, the Order maintains a strong international presence, carrying out healthcare, social, and humanitarian projects. It comprises approximately 4,000 members, organized into 42 jurisdictions across 37 countries, with a presence on all five continents.
