FRANCESCO PAOLO TRONCA, KCLJ, NOMINATO IL GRAN REFERENDARIO DELL’ORDINE DI SAN LAZZARO DI GERUSALEMME

Francesco Paolo Tronca è nato il 21 marzo 1959. È sposato con Letizia Romano dal 30 settembre 1988 e ha due figli.

E’ stato ammesso nell'Ordine di San Lazzaro con il grado di KLJ nel 2019, anno di istituzione del Gran Baliato di Sicilia ed ha ricoperto il ruolo di Cancelliere e Tesoriere ad interim durante il suo primo mandato.

Il 12 giugno 2022 ha ricevuto l'onorificenza di Compagno Ufficiale di Merito KMLJ e il 21 gennaio 2024 è stato promosso al grado di KCLJ.

A seguito delle nuove elezioni tenutesi nel 2024, è stato riconfermato nel Consiglio Direttivo e ha ripreso le sue funzioni di Cancelliere.

Il 21 marzo 2025, il Gran Balì di Sicilia lo ha nominato Rettore dell'Accademia Lazzarita di San Luigi IX Re di Francia.

Con la nomina a Gran Referendario entra a far parte del Consiglio del Gran Magistero dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro, lasciando la carica di Cancelliere del Gran Baliato per incompatibilità.

Il Gran Referendario è una figura di alto rango all'interno della struttura magistrale dell'Ordine Militare ed Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme: il ruolo si concentra sulla supervisione cerimoniale, legale e sulla gestione delle relazioni interne.

Ha la responsabilità di curare il cerimoniale dell'Ordine, assicurando che le investiture, i capitoli generali e le altre cerimonie ufficiali si svolgano secondo le regole statutarie e le tradizioni; svolge un ruolo consultivo in materia di statuti, regolamenti e procedure, riferendo al Gran Maestro o al Consiglio Magistrale su questioni legate al rispetto delle norme da parte dei cavalieri, contribuisce alla verifica dei requisiti dei candidati proposti per l'ammissione all'Ordine o per la promozione ai gradi superiori, garantendo la correttezza formale delle pratiche; infine, agisce come tramite tra il Magistero Centrale e le giurisdizioni nazionali facilitando la comunicazione e la diffusione delle direttive.

FRANCESCO PAOLO TRONCA, KCLJ, APPOINTED GRAND REFERENDARY OF THE ORDER OF SAINT LAZARUS OF JERUSALEM

Francesco Paolo Tronca was born on March 21, 1959. He has been married to Letizia Romano since September 30, 1988, and has two children.

He was admitted to the Order of Saint Lazarus with the rank of KLJ in 2019, the year the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily was established, and served as Chancellor and Treasurer ad interim during his first term.

On June 12, 2022, he received the honor of Officer Companion of Merit KMLJ, and on January 21, 2024, he was promoted to the rank of KCLJ.

Following new elections held in 2024, he was reappointed to the Governing Council and resumed his duties as Chancellor.

On March 21, 2025, the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily appointed him Rector of the Lazarite Academy of Saint Louis IX, King of France.

With his appointment as Grand Referendary, he joins the Council of the Grand Magistry of the Order of Saint Lazarus, resigning from his position as Chancellor of the Grand Bailiwick due to incompatibility.

The Grand Referendary is a high-ranking figure within the magisterial structure of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem: his role focuses on ceremonial and legal oversight, and the management of internal relations.

He is responsible for overseeing the Order's ceremonies, ensuring that investitures, general chapters, and other official ceremonies are conducted according to the statutory rules and traditions. He serves in an advisory capacity on statutes, regulations, and procedures, reporting to the Grand Master or the Magistral Council on matters related to the knights' compliance with the rules. He contributes to verifying the qualifications of candidates proposed for admission to the Order or for promotion to higher ranks, ensuring the formal correctness of the procedures. Finally, it acts as an intermediary between the Central Magisterium and the national jurisdictions, facilitating the communication and dissemination of directives.
