UNA DELEGAZIONE DELL’ORDINE DI SAN LAZZARO ALLA CERIMONIA DI INSTALLAZIONE DEL NUOVO ARCIVESCOVO DI PRAGA

Sabato 25 aprile 2026, presso la Cattedrale dei Santi Vito, Venceslao e Adalberto a Praga, si è svolta una solenne funzione religiosa durante la quale Monsignor Stanislav Přibyl è stato insediato come Arcivescovo di Praga. Alla celebrazione hanno partecipato vescovi della Repubblica Ceca e dell'estero, sacerdoti, suore e religiosi, e fedeli provenienti da tutto il paese. Tra gli ospiti erano presenti il ​​Presidente della Repubblica con la moglie, insieme ad altre personalità politiche e costituzionali.

Una delegazione della Giurisdizione slovacca dell'Ordine Militare e Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme ha partecipato a questo splendido evento, rappresentando la lunga tradizione di servizio caritatevole dell'Ordine.

La cerimonia è stata aperta dall'Arcivescovo emerito di Praga, Jan Graubner, che ha dato il benvenuto ai presenti. Successivamente, il Decano del Capitolo Metropolitano di San Vito, Padre Ondřej Pávek, ha letto la Bolla Papale che decretava la nomina del nuovo arcivescovo. A questo ha fatto seguito il simbolico passaggio di consegne, durante il quale l'Arcivescovo di Praga uscente, Mons. Jan Graubner, ha consegnato simbolicamente il pastorale al nuovo arcivescovo. Mons. Stanislav Přibyl ha quindi preso posto sul seggio episcopale, assumendo così ufficialmente il suo ministero di Arcivescovo di Praga e presiedendo la restante parte della celebrazione eucaristica.

Al termine della cerimonia ospiti illustri hanno salutato il nuovo Arcivescovo di Praga e l'assemblea. Il primo a prendere la parola è stato il Presidente della Repubblica Ceca, Petr Pavel. A seguire, il Nunzio Apostolico, Jude Thaddeus Okolo, ha assicurato al nuovo arcivescovo la vicinanza e il sostegno spirituale del Santo Padre. Ha osservato che la Chiesa nella Repubblica Ceca si trova a un importante bivio e deve affrontare molte sfide, ma ha anche sottolineato la speranza che scaturisce dalla fede e dall'opera dello Spirito Santo.

L'Arcivescovo di Vienna, il Cardinale Christoph Schönborn, nel suo saluto ha parlato dell'importanza della fiducia tra un pastore e il suo popolo e della necessità dell'ascolto reciproco. Ha ricordato ai presenti che il ministero di un vescovo richiede un senso di guida per la comunità, nonché apertura verso coloro che portano prospettive diverse, e ha augurato al nuovo arcivescovo la benedizione di Dio per il suo servizio.

Il nuovo arcivescovo è stato accolto anche dall'arcivescovo Josef Nuzík, presidente della Conferenza episcopale ceca. A rappresentare il clero dell'arcidiocesi era presente Zdenek Wasserbauer, vescovo ausiliare di Praga, mentre a rappresentare i fedeli c'era Jaroslav Němec, direttore della Caritas arcidiocesana di Praga. Infine, i rappresentanti delle altre Chiese cristiane presenti alla solenne cerimonia di insediamento hanno impartito la loro benedizione al nuovo arcivescovo, seguiti dalla benedizione del rabbino David Maxa e dalla benedizione sacerdotale.

A DELEGATION OF THE ORDER OF SAINT LAZARUS AT THE INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE NEW ARCHBISHOP OF PRAGUE

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, a solemn religious service was held at the Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus, and Adalbert in Prague, during which Archbishop Stanislav Přibyl was installed as Archbishop of Prague. The celebration was attended by bishops from the Czech Republic and abroad, priests, nuns, religious, and faithful from across the country. Guests included the President of the Republic and his wife, along with other political and constitutional figures.

A delegation from the Slovak Jurisdiction of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem participated in this splendid event, representing the Order's long tradition of charitable service.

The ceremony was opened by Archbishop Emeritus of Prague, Jan Graubner, who welcomed those present. Subsequently, the Dean of the Metropolitan Chapter of St. Vitus, Father Ondřej Pávek, read the Papal Bull decreeing the appointment of the new archbishop. This was followed by the symbolic handover, during which the outgoing Archbishop of Prague, Most Rev. Jan Graubner, symbolically handed over the pastoral staff to the new archbishop. Most Rev. Stanislav Přibyl then took his place on the episcopal chair, officially assuming his ministry as Archbishop of Prague, and presided over the remainder of the Eucharistic celebration.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, distinguished guests greeted the new Archbishop of Prague and the assembly. The first to speak was the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel. Following this, the Apostolic Nuncio, Jude Thaddeus Okolo, assured the new archbishop of the Holy Father's closeness and spiritual support. He noted that the Church in the Czech Republic is at a crucial crossroads and faces many challenges, but he also emphasized the hope that comes from faith and the work of the Holy Spirit.

In his greeting, Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, spoke of the importance of trust between a pastor and his people and the need for mutual listening. He reminded those present that a bishop's ministry requires a sense of leadership for the community, as well as openness to those with different perspectives, and wished the new archbishop God's blessing on his service.

The new archbishop was also welcomed by Archbishop Josef Nuzík, president of the Czech Bishops' Conference. Representing the clergy of the archdiocese was Zdenek Wasserbauer, Auxiliary Bishop of Prague, while representing the faithful was Jaroslav Němec, director of the Archdiocesan Caritas of Prague. Finally, the representatives of the other Christian Churches present at the solemn installation ceremony imparted their blessing to the new archbishop, followed by the blessing of Rabbi David Maxa and the priestly blessing.
