CELEBRAZIONE DELLA PASQUA NEL GRAN BALIATO DI SCOZIA

La sera di mercoledì 5 aprile, i membri del Gran Baliaggio di Scozia si sono riuniti presso la Saint Nicholas United Free Church of Scotland a Broxburn per un servizio pasquale. È la prima volta, dopo molti anni, che l'Ordine celebra un servizio pasquale al di fuori di Edimburgo, nella chiesa di uno dei cappellani maggiori.

La funzione è stata condotta dal Cappellano Generale, Rev. Sandy MacDonald.

La lettura biblica è stata tratta da Marco capitolo 14 versetti 32-42 ed è stata letta dal Confratello Craig Stirling-Brown. Il Segretario Generale ha poi guidato la preghiera di intercessione e il discorso è stato tenuto dal Ministro della Chiesa e Cappellano Maggiore dell'Ordine, il Rev. Colin McAulay. Egli ha tenuto un discorso ispiratore e ha ricordato alla congregazione il vero significato della Pasqua e del servizio agli altri.

Al termine della funzione il Segretario generale ha ringraziato i membri del Baliato e dell'Ordine presenti.

La chiesa di San Nicola fu progettata da James Fairley nel 1890, come chiesa presbiteriana unita. Fairley progettò numerose chiese per la congregazione presbiteriana unita, tra cui quelle di West Calder e Balerno.

CELEBRATION OF EASTER IN THE GRAND BAILIWICK OF SCOTLAND

(St. Nicholas United Free Church, Broxburn)

On the evening of Wednesday 5th of April, the Members of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland gathered at Saint Nicholas United Free Church of Scotland in Broxburn for an Easter Service. This is the first time in many years that the Order has held an Easter Service outside of Edinburgh in the Church of one of our Senior Chaplains.

The service was conducted by the Chaplain General Rev Sandy MacDonald.

The Bible reading was taken from Mark chapter 14 verses 32 to 42 and was read by Confrere Craig Stirling -Brown. The Secretary General then led the prayer of Intercession and the address was given by the Minister of the Church and Senior Chaplain of the Order the Rev Colin McAulay. He gave an inspiring address and reminded the congregation of the true meaning of Easter and service for others.

At the close of the service the Secretary General thanked all those present.

The church was designed by James Fairley in 1890, as a United Presbyterian church. Fairley designed a number of churches for the United Presbyterian congregation, including those at West Calder and Balerno.
