Il 29 luglio 2021, dopo breve malattia, è tornato alla Casa del Padre S. E. Klaus Dieter Herbst, GCLJ, KMLJ, SMLJ, Cancelliere del Gran Baliato di Germania dell’Ordine Militare ed Ospedaliero di San Lazzaro di Gerusalemme.

Klaus-Dieter Herbst ha dedicato la sua vita alla comunità del nostro Ordine.

Per più di 20 anni ha ricoperto importanti cariche all’interno dell’Ordine, come Custode delle Insegne, Tesoriere e Referendario e, infine, come Cancelliere del Gran Baliato di Germania.

Cordiale e allegro, era vicino alla gente, a coloro che avevano bisogno del nostro aiuto ospedaliero e a coloro che incoraggiava e ispirava a fornire questo aiuto. Come cristiano protestante, sostenne con passione il cammino ecumenico della comunità del nostro Ordine. Vivere l'unità nella diversità era ciò che egli intendeva come obiettivo e scopo del suo lavoro. Con le sue grandi capacità organizzative, ha avuto un ruolo decisivo nel plasmare l'immagine pubblica del nostro Ordine.

CHANCELLOR OF THE GRAND BALIATE OF GERMANY

On 29 July 2021, after a short illness, H.E. Klaus Dieter Herbst, GCLJ, KMLJ, SMLJ, Chancellor of the Grand Bailiwick of Germany of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, returned to the House of the Father.

Klaus-Dieter Herbst dedicated his life to the community of our Order.

For more than 20 years he tirelessly served his Order as Insignia Keeper, as Treasurer, as Referendary and finally as Chancellor of the Grand Bailiwick of Germany.

Warm-hearted and cheerful, he was close to the people –to those in need of our hospitaller help as well as to those whom he encouraged and inspired to provide this help. As a Protestant Christian, he passionately advocated the ecumenical path of the community of our Order. Living unity in diversity was what he understood as the objective and purpose of his work. With his great organisational skills, he played a decisive role in shaping the public image of our Order.
